Film Studies

La Sección de Estudios de Cine de LASA convoca a sus miembrxs a participar en el premio al mejor artículo académico o capítulo de libro sobre cine latinoamericano publicado en 2023:

1. Los artículos o capítulos serán evaluados con base en la calidad de la investigación, análisis y escritura y por su contribución al área de estudios de cine latinoamericano. Los artículos deben ser revisados por pares (peer-reviewed), y se aceptan artículos publicados o aceptados en revistas académicas o capítulos de libros en volumen editado.

2. Se establecen las siguientes categorías:

• Miembrx general: Académico – Investigador/x (con o sin afiliación académica)
• Estudiante de posgrado

3. Solo se considerarán artículos o capítulos que hayan sido publicados o aceptados en 2023, y solo podrán participar lxs miembrxs de la Sección de Estudios de Cine de LASA con membresías vigentes de LASA y la Sección de Estudios de Cine hasta 16 de junio de 2024.

4. Los premios serán anunciados en el Congreso LASA 2024, Colombia, durante la reunión de la sección, aunque se le notificará al ganador/x por escrito dos semanas antes. Los premios serán reconocidos con un diploma y un premio en efectivo durante la reunión de la sección.

5. De asistir al congreso, se invita a lxs ganadorxs a la entrega oficial de los diplomas durante la reunión de la sección.

6. Para participar, lxs interesadxs deben enviar un correo electrónico a lasafilmsection@gmail.com con el título “Premio al mejor artículo o capítulo de libro” en el asunto, a más tardar el día 5 de febrero de 2024 con la cita bibliográfica completa del artículo o la documentación oficial de aceptación, la categoría a la que postula, su curriculum vitae, la dirección postal y teléfono de su autor/x y un PDF del artículo adjunto. Se puede enviar solo un ensayo por persona.

7. Un subcomité del comité directivo de la Sección de Estudios de Cine (2023-2024) fungirá como jurado para el Premio al Mejor Artículo sobre Cine Latinoamericano publicado en 2023, por lo cual ningún/x miembrx de la directiva de la sección 2023-2024 podrá participar en el certamen.

The LASA Film Section calls on its members to participate in the Award for Best Academic Article or Book Chapter on Latin American Cinema published in 2023.

1. Each article or book chapter will be evaluated based on the quality of research, analysis, and writing style, as well as its contribution to Latin American Film Studies. Submissions must be peer-reviewed articles published/accepted in an academic journal or book chapters published/accepted in an edited volume.

2. The awards comprise two categories:

• General Member: Faculty, (Independent) Scholar
• Graduate Student

3. Only articles or chapters that have been either published or accepted in 2023 will be taken into account. Additionally, only members currently associated with LASA and the Film Studies Section until June 16, 2024, will be eligible to participate.

4. The Award will be announced during the section business meeting at the 2024 LASA Congress in Colombia. The winners of the Award will be notified in writing two weeks before the Congress. The Award recipients will be recognized with a certificate and a monetary prize during the business meeting.

5. If present at the LASA Congress, the winners will be invited to the official ceremony during the section business meeting.

6. To participate, interested members should email a nomination to lasafilmsection@gmail.com, indicating “Award for Best Article or Book Chapter'' in the subject line by February 5, 2024. Please include the complete bibliographic citation or official acceptance documentation, the category for the submission, a current CV, the mailing address and telephone number of the author, and a PDF version of the essay attached. Only one essay submission per person is permitted.

7. A subcommittee of the Film Studies Section Committee (2023-2024) will act as the jury for the Best Academic Article or Book Chapter on Latin American Cinema published in 2023. Consequently, no member of the Committee can participate as a nominee.
