LASA 2014 Visual Culture Section Roundtables

Saturday, May 24, 2014

The Latin American visual culture studies section is pleased to announce its inaugural sessions at the LASA 2014 conference in Chicago. These will consist of two roundtables dedicated to a theoretical discussion of the nature of Latin American visual culture and the state of the field. The first will be broadly historical in nature and feature experts in colonial and nineteenth-century Latin American visual culture while the second will be broadly contemporary in its focus. Each will naturally attend to both the present and the past as they seek to inaugurate an ongoing conversation regarding the critical role played by visual culture in the formulation of Latin American society.
