ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITY: HARVARD UNIVERSITY SEEKS APPLICATIONS FOR LECTURER IN LATINX STUDIES


The Committee on Ethnicity, Migration, and Rights (EMR) at Harvard University has announced an open search for a Lecturer in Latinx Studies. This is a prestigious academic opportunity for scholars specializing in the field.


Position Details:

The successful candidate will be appointed for a three-year term, beginning July 1, 2026. The position carries a 2:2 teaching load, typically consisting of one lecture course and one seminar each semester, primarily for undergraduate students. The second and third years of the appointment are contingent upon satisfactory annual performance reviews.


Desired Expertise:

The committee welcomes applicants with research and teaching expertise in Latinx Studies, particularly those with interdisciplinary and comparative approaches. Desired areas of specialization may include, but are not limited to:

*   Comparative ethnic studies.

*   Intersections with Indigenous and/or Black studies.

*   Colonization and decolonization.

*   Migration and diaspora studies.


A strong emphasis is placed on candidates whose proposed courses would put multiple genres, disciplines, geographical areas, and/or historical periods in dialogue, situating ethnic, racial, and social dynamics within a transnational and global context.

1.  Cover Letter

2.  Curriculum Vitae

3.  Writing Sample (e.g., a journal article or dissertation chapter)

4.  Statement of Teaching Philosophy, including potential course titles and a description of the candidate’s approach to fostering an inclusive learning environment.

5.  Two Sample Syllabi: One for an "Introduction to Latinx Studies" course and one for an upper-level seminar related to the applicant's expertise.

6.  Names and contact information for at least three referees (maximum of five). Letters of recommendation will be requested via the system for candidates invited to interview.


Important Dates and Information:

*   Review of applications will begin on February 23, 2026, and will continue until the position is filled.

*   The selected candidate’s compensation will be based on factors including years of experience, qualifications, field of scholarship, and accomplishments.

Houston City College (HCC), one of the nation's largest community colleges, is seeking a dedicated professional for the position of Program Administrator. This role is central to developing, managing, and promoting key educational programs in alignment with community and industry needs.


Job Summary:

The successful candidate will administer and supervise designated program(s), which may include supervising staff and assessing/advising participants. Key responsibilities involve developing marketing and recruitment strategies, creating and revising program curricula, monitoring industry trends, and forging partnerships with business, industry, and community agencies.


Essential Functions:

*   Assist in managing assigned program(s).

*   Develop, prepare, and execute marketing plans to promote courses, increase enrollment, and improve program visibility.

*   Coordinate program activities, including events, resource monitoring, and facility negotiations.

*   Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff, departments, and external partners.

*   Develop, implement, and monitor new program initiatives based on community and business needs.

*   Compile, review, and report statistical program data.

*   Monitor program goals, objectives, and outcomes.

*   May supervise, manage, and evaluate staff.

*   Assist in identifying grant opportunities and participating in proposal development.

*   Actively participate in program and management team initiatives.


Qualifications:

*   Education & Experience:

    *   Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field required.

    *   An Associate’s degree or 60 college credit hours plus 4 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.

    *   4 years of directly related work experience is required.

*   Licensing & Certification: Valid Texas Driver's License.

*   Special Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Programs and Information Management Systems.
