Call for Papers: 5th Jean Monnet Prize for Social Sciences Opens for Young Researchers
The Jean Monnet Network “BRIDGE Watch: Values and Democracy in the EU and Latin America” has launched a call for submissions for the 5th Jean Monnet Prize for Social Sciences, inviting young researchers (up to 35 years old) to submit unpublished papers on “The Globalisation of EU Values and Democracy.”
Eligible applicants must be currently enrolled—or have been enrolled within the past 18 months—in an undergraduate, postgraduate, or doctoral program. Papers, written in English, Spanish, or Portuguese, may be submitted individually or by teams of up to three authors and should range between 60,000 and 80,000 characters.
This international competition aims to foster academic excellence and promote dialogue between European and Latin American perspectives on democracy and integration. The submission deadline is June 1, 2026.
The winning paper will receive the 6th Jean Monnet Prize for Social Sciences and the author will be invited to present their work at the 12th BRIDGE Seminar on Green Transition and Sustainable Societies, on October 7, 2026, at the University of the Republic (Uruguay).

Through a striking selection of modern and contemporary works, Unseen Threads highlights the interplay between tradition and experimentation, revealing how shared histories and creative expressions continue to intertwine.

María Corina Machado galardonada con el Nobel de la Paz 2025
La venezolana María Corina Machado ha sido distinguida con el Premio Nobel de la Paz 2025, según anunció hoy el Comité Noruego en Oslo.
El fallo reconoce su "trabajo constante durante más de dos décadas en favor de los derechos humanos y la participación ciudadana", destacando su promoción de métodos pacíficos para el cambio social.
Machado, fundadora del partido político Vente Venezuela, manifestó sentirse "honrada" y dedicó el galardón "a todos los ciudadanos que defienden la democracia mediante acciones cívicas".
El Comité valoró específicamente su impulso a procesos de participación masiva, destacando las elecciones primarias de 2023 como ejemplo de movilización civil.
La ceremonia de entrega se realizará el 10 de diciembre en Oslo, donde recibirá la medalla y diploma que acreditan el galardón, junto a la dotación económica de 10 millones de coronas suecas.
