Jan 27, 2025

The Dissertation Award goes to Professor Michelle Vasquez and Professor Veronica Valencia for their excellent manuscripts. Here, you will find the statements offered by the members of the jury about each of the winner pieces:

*Michelle Vasquez Ruiz: "her manuscript is an excellent work exhibiting the reality of transborder Indigenous communities and how the social and political structures influence their cultural dynamics. The manuscript is a wonderful contribution, derived from multiple strategies of data collection, for understanding how states shape the life of Latinx Indigenous populations and infringe upon their rights".

*Verónica Valencia: "her manuscript masterfully highlights the interaction between the international and local understandings of intimate partner violence (IPV) in a rural scenario of Latin America. With the support of wide range of methodologies and a rich theoretical framework, the work clearly identifies the factors provoking this violence in the family context and offer insights for a better adaptation to local realities of these concepts"
