LASA Sections

Estimados/as miembros de la Sección Perú:

La Sección Perú de la Asociación de Estudios Latinoamericanos (LASA) tiene el agrado de anunciar a la ganadora del Premio Flora Tristán al mejor libro que haya sido publicado sobre cualquier tema, que evidencie una contribución significativa al conocimiento académico peruano durante el año 2020.

En esta ocasión el jurado estuvo conformado por Anne Lambright (Carnegie Mellon University), Sarah Elizabeth Penry (Fordham University) y Olga González (Macalester College), quienes tuvieron la encomiable tarea de revisar y discutir los interesantes contenidos de 7 postulaciones. De este modo, el premio ha sido otorgado a:

Larissa Brewer-García,
Beyond Babel: Translations of Blackness in Colonial Peru and New Granada (Cambridge University Press, 2020)

Asimismo, el jurado ha otorgado una mención honrosa a Marcel Velázquez Castro por su libro Hijos de la peste: Una historia de las epidemias en el Perú, (Taurus, 2020).

Nuestras más sinceras felicitaciones a Larissa Brewer-García por el premio recibido, a Marcel Velázquez Castro por la mención honrosa, y a los participantes por concursar, puesto que el jurado nos ha comunicado enfáticamente sus más gratas impresiones con la calidad de los trabajos presentados, sin excepción.

The Peru Section of the Association of Latin American Studies (LASA) is pleased to announce the winner of the Flora Tristán Prize for the best book that has been published on any subject, evidencing a significant contribution to Peruvian academic knowledge during the year 2020.

On this occasion, the members of the jury were Anne Lambright (Carnegie Mellon University), Sarah Elizabeth Penry (Fordham University) and Olga González (Macalester College), who had the task of reviewing and discussing the contents of 7 applications. Thus, the prize has been awarded to:

Likewise, the jury has awarded an honorable mention to Marcel Velázquez Castro for his book Hijos de la peste: Una historia de las epidemias en el Perú, (Taurus, 2020).
