May 21, 2020
Please join the Security Policy Studies (SPS) Program, the Latin American and Hemispheric Studies (LAHSP) Program, and the International Affairs Program at Oberlin College on May 27, 2020 from 1:00 to 2:30PM EDT for a virtual panel entitled 'The Military in Times of COVID19: Lessons from the Western Hemisphere.'
Latin American governments are responding in different ways to the spread of COVID19, but most countries in the region are calling on their armed forces to play a role in containing the virus. Moderated by SPS Program Director Dr. Arturo Sotomayor, this virtual panel will address the challenges, opportunities, and longer term implications of involving the armed forces in providing emergency public health and security support in this crisis.
This event is co-sponsored by the Security Policy Studies (SPS) Program, the Latin American and Hemispheric Studies (LASP) Program, and the International Affairs Program at Oberlin College.
